Publishing interface development and maintenance
GSWE supports publishers and service providers with metadata, business application and distribution system integration. We develop and maintain custom interfaces, clarify data ownership and make processing across target systems traceable.
Description
A central processing layer consolidates metadata from source systems and distributes it to recipients under defined rules. Corrections and feedback remain associated with a specific processing record. Tell GSWE which publishing applications, formats and target systems are involved.
Depending on the agreed boundaries, the concrete scope covers: publishing system integration, format mapping and resilient processing.
Approach
Stable identifiers, traceable versions and correction rules are essential. A transferred record is not necessarily accepted by the recipient. Feedback must be evaluated and failures routed to responsible people. Where ONIX or other exchange formats are used, specify versions, required fields and recipient-specific expectations. Format conversion, business validation and distribution are separate responsibilities within the processing chain. Together we define the first delivery scope and verifiable acceptance criteria.
Outcome
Publishing metadata needs traceable distribution across multiple recipients. Shared processing reveals which version was accepted, rejected or not yet transferred. Editorial and IT teams can address corrections without manually comparing separate export states. Handover includes the implemented connection, agreed tests and documentation of operating responsibilities.
Technical details
GSWE implements recipient adapters with documented field mappings for each publishing format. Each title change has a processing state per recipient; rejected messages retain their cause and a retryable delivery task. Tests compare initial delivery, price changes and withdrawn titles against the agreed sample data.
